Academic Blah Blah

Amy Oliver + Co is a Canadian consulting and leadership firm built specifically for the pharmacy profession. We began working with a simple idea: pharmacy owners and leaders deserve high-quality strategic support, practical tools, and partners to grow.

We work at the intersection of leadership, business, operations, and real-world practice. Our team has deep roots in community pharmacy, teaching and education, advocacy, and hospital practice. That diversity allows us to bring a wide-angle understanding of the profession and connect academic learning with lived experience across care settings.

We see universities as essential partners. We help bridge academic learning with operational realities and leadership environments, so graduates and faculty are equipped with insight, confidence, and practical tools to thrive in evolving practice landscapes.

Our Work with Universities

Beyond supporting students, we equip faculty, academic leaders, and preceptors with skills, frameworks, and confidence to teach, mentor, and lead differently. Whether through leadership coaching, curriculum collaboration, or professional development workshops, we strengthen the people who shape tomorrow’s pharmacists.

Most importantly, our work generates outcomes. We help pharmacy organizations and teams grow, strengthen culture, evolve services, develop leaders, and improve healthcare outcomes. Those results translate into case studies, research questions, and applied examples that universities can leverage in both student learning and faculty development.

What Makes Us Different

Our expertise comes from decades spent in the sector, in ownership, frontline practice, education, hospital environments, association leadership, and strategic advisory roles. This gives us a multidimensional lens that blends leadership, business operations, and clinical practice into an integrated approach to growth.

We also hold deep relationships with independent community pharmacies across Canada. These partnerships give us insight into marketing trends, innovation challenges, leadership expectations, workforce realities, and patient needs that cannot be learned from the outside.

How We Support Pharmacy Education

  • We help students build clarity, confidence, and capability as they prepare for practice. Throughguest lectures, career and leadership talks, innovation sessions, personal branding workshops, and case-based learning, we help them see what is possible in pharmacy. We also supportcapstone projects, offer mentorship, and enhance internship experiences by connectingacademic learning with the realities of business, operations, leadership, and patient care.

  • AOco opens doors to pharmacy environments of various kinds that offer rich learning beyondtraditional placements. Students gain access to innovation sites, curated project experiences,community-embedded research opportunities, and preceptorship settings where leadership, business development, and practice transformation are actively happening. This creates exposure to models of care and career pathways they may never otherwise see.

  • The transition from student to practitioner is demanding. We help prepare learners by offeringcurriculum modules and facilitated discussions on professional and personal wellbeing, psychological safety, resilience, and sustainable career pathways. Our goal is to equip futurepharmacists not only with clinical knowledge but with the emotional and operational tools

they need to thrive long term.

  • We bridge academia with the environments where graduates will work. AOco connects

faculty and students with emerging practice leaders, innovative pharmacy sites, national

and international examples, and cross-sector voices. We also share market insights

and workforce realities to help academic programs align curriculum with practice trends

    and employer expectations.
